Sending money home for food is easy. Knowing it became food, on the day it was needed, is harder. Here is how to send a chicken itself, from a checked Ghanaian farm, and see it arrive.
1. Save who you’re sending to
Add your relative once: their name, Ghana phone number, area, GhanaPost GPS address and a landmark the rider can find. They don’t need the app. They’ll get an SMS with a 4-digit delivery code.
2. Choose from farms that reach them
Akokor only shows farms that deliver to your relative’s area, so everything you see can reach them. Each farm is checked before it can sell: Ghana Card, farm photos, and a veterinary certificate before it sells dressed chicken.
Pick the bird and how it should arrive: live, killed, dressed or cut. Our guide to live, killed and dressed chicken explains the difference.
3. Pick the day and pay from abroad
Choose a delivery day and a morning (8–12) or afternoon (12–5) slot, at least 48 hours ahead. Add a gift note if you like. Pay by card through Paystack: you see a guide price in pounds, dollars or euros and are charged in cedis. People in Ghana can pay with Mobile Money.
4. See the proof
The rider calls your relative before setting off. The delivery only counts as done when the rider takes a photo of them with the order and enters the code they received. You see the photo in the app straight away.
If it can’t be delivered, you choose a new day or get a full refund.
