Terms of Use

Last updated: 26 October 2026

Welcome to Akokor. Akokor is operated by WORKPIE IT ENTERPRISE, a business registered in Ghana (Business Registration No. BN349721026). You order chicken, poultry and eggs for people in Ghana; farms deliver them with their own riders and prove each delivery with a photo and the recipient's code. Payments go through Paystack and are split when you pay. These terms explain what you can expect from us and the farms, and what we expect from you. This is a draft and is being reviewed by a lawyer.

Akokor and the farms on it

Akokor is a marketplace for chicken, other poultry and eggs, operated by WORKPIE IT ENTERPRISE, a business registered in Ghana (Business Registration No. BN349721026). You order in the app for yourself or for family and friends in Ghana, and independent farms sell and deliver the products.

Each farm is the seller of what it lists and is responsible for its quality, weight and description. Akokor checks farms before they can sell, runs the app and checkout, and handles problem reports and refunds.

Only live birds, dressed or frozen chicken, chicken parts, eggs and bundles of these may be sold on Akokor.

Your account

You need an account to order. You can sign in with email and password, your phone number, Google or Apple.

  • Give true details and keep your sign-in private. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
  • Akokor staff will never ask for your password, card details or MoMo PIN.
  • You can delete your account at any time in the app (open your profile and tap Delete account).

Ordering for someone in Ghana

You can save the people you send to (your recipients) and choose one for each delivery. Recipients don't need an account.

  • Only add someone if you have a good reason to share their details with us, and tell them you are doing it. They will get an SMS with a delivery code and a call from the farm.
  • Keep their details correct: name, Ghana phone number, area, GhanaPost GPS address and landmark. A wrong number or address can cause a failed delivery.
  • Any gift note you add is passed to the farm to read out or hand over.

Prices and payment

Farms set their prices in Ghana cedis (GH₵). The price you see for an item includes a small Akokor markup. Checkout then adds the farm's delivery fee for the recipient's area and an Akokor service fee, each on its own line, before you pay. There are no other hidden fees.

If you pay from abroad, we also show an estimate in US dollars. It is only a guide: you are charged in GH₵, and your bank converts the amount at its own rate and may add a fee.

  • Payments are made by card or Mobile Money through Paystack, a licensed payment provider. Akokor never sees your card number or MoMo PIN.
  • Paystack splits each payment when you pay: the farm's share goes straight to the farm, and Akokor's share to Akokor. Akokor does not hold money for farms.
  • Always pay through the Akokor checkout. Payments made any other way are not covered by these terms or our refund policy.

Delivery and proof

Each farm delivers its own orders with its own riders, only to the areas it covers. At checkout you pick a delivery day and a slot (morning 8–12 or afternoon 12–5) at least 48 hours ahead, on a day the farm delivers. Some products need more notice.

The farm calls the recipient before setting off. A delivery only counts as done when the rider takes a photo of the recipient with the items and enters the recipient's 4-digit code. We send the code to the recipient by SMS and also show it to you in the app, so you can pass it on if the SMS doesn't arrive.

Killed and dressed birds

Dressed or frozen chicken, chicken parts and any bird you ask the farm to kill, dress or cut can only go to areas in the farm's own city. Live birds and eggs can go to any area the farm covers.

If a delivery doesn't happen

If the farm can't deliver (for example, the recipient can't be reached or the address is wrong), it keeps the order safe and we ask you to pick a new day in the app.

If the order still can't be delivered, or you cancel it instead, you get a full refund, including the delivery and service fees. The same applies if the recipient refuses the order. The farm pays these refunds.

We watch for accounts whose recipients refuse orders again and again, and may limit those accounts.

Problems and refunds

If something is wrong with a delivery (for example a dead or sick bird, broken eggs, a bird below its guaranteed minimum weight, or the wrong items), report it from the order in the app within 48 hours of delivery. Add a photo: the recipient can send you one to upload.

Akokor reviews each report with the farm and decides on a full refund, a part refund or a replacement delivery. A farm can also turn an order down before accepting it; you are then refunded in full.

How refunds are paid

Refunds go back through Paystack to the card or MoMo wallet you paid with. Card refunds usually take 3–5 working days to appear, depending on your bank.

Weekly orders

You can set up a repeat order (every week, every 2 weeks or every 4 weeks) to one recipient. Weekly orders are paid by card only: you pay the first delivery as normal, and we save the card with Paystack to charge the next ones.

  • Each delivery is charged 3 days before it, at the prices of the day. If the total has gone up by more than 10% since the last charge, we don't charge until you approve it.
  • If a charge fails, that delivery doesn't happen and we ask you to update your card.
  • You can skip a delivery, pause, change it or cancel at any time in the app. A farm may also decline a delivery; you are not charged for it.

Reviews

After a delivery you can review what you ordered. Reviews must be honest and about your own order. We may remove reviews that are abusive, false or unrelated.

What farms agree to

Farms that sell on Akokor accept separate seller terms. In short, each farm must:

  • verify its identity with a Ghana Card before it can sell;
  • hold a valid veterinary or FDA certificate to sell, kill or dress meat, and hold any permits its business needs;
  • deliver killed, dressed or cut birds only within its own city, and only to areas it covers;
  • describe products honestly and meet the minimum weight it guarantees;
  • pay a 5% commission on its item prices, taken by Paystack at checkout;
  • pay for refunds caused by the product or the delivery. Refunds a farm owes are taken from its share of its next orders.

What you must not do

  • Use Akokor for anything unlawful, or list or ask for products other than poultry and eggs.
  • Add someone as a recipient without a good reason, or give false details.
  • Abuse riders, farms, recipients or our support team.
  • Arrange payment outside the Akokor checkout, or misuse refunds or coupons.
  • Copy, scrape or interfere with the app or try to get into other people's accounts.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.

Our responsibility

Farms are responsible for the products they sell and deliver. Akokor is responsible for running the app and checkout with reasonable care and for handling refunds as set out above.

We aren't responsible for delays or losses caused by things outside our reasonable control, such as bad weather, road closures or outages at banks, networks or payment providers. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have by law that can't be excluded.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana. If you have a complaint, contact support first so we can try to sort it out. Anything we can't resolve together can be taken to the courts in Accra.

We may update these terms. We'll show the new date at the top, and tell you in the app about important changes.
